FAQ

How long does therapy/counseling take?

The length of time typically depends on you and what types of needs you have. Some things cannot be rushed. Length of therapy depends on how great the problem and how great the need.

Such things as early childhood sexual abuse, grief, marital conflict, affair recovery, and sexual retraining in couples can take many sessions. Healing takes time, and most often that is often determined by the client commitment and progress.

Your therapists primary goal should be to work themselves out of a job, in other words, help you get to a place you no longer need their services and you are equipped to navigate life.

The first two to three sessions will include assessing your needs, goals and direction.

What do I need to bring to the first session?

On our website under OUR THERAPIST you will find what you need to do prior to your first session and what you need to bring.

How much do you charge?

Each of our therapist are different in their fees. Please see under each therapist infomed consent what their fees are. Depending on the need, some of our therapist may offer scholarships to those needing financial assistance, this is on a case by case basis and varied with each therapist.

What if you cannot help me?

The therapeutic relationship is essential to a positive therapy experience. Not every counselor is right for every person. A therapist's job is not only to provide effective services, but to refer individuals to other therapist who may be more appropriate.

How often do I have to come in?

Initially weekly sessions are recommended. A typical session is 50 minutes. Sometimes individuals prefer to meet more often. We encourage you to discuss your needs and expectations with your therapist. It is always best to meet weekly until the client and therapist determine another course of action.

How confidential is counseling?

Counseling is what is referred to as a privileged relationship, this means the client is in control of what information is shared and with who. Therapist at Restoration Counseling Center cannot acknowledge your relationship without your authorized consent, a written and signed document with your approval of who they may discuss information with and for what purpose. Our therapist are protective of their clients and will not approach them in public. In some cases it is not always possibly to avoid running into one another in public settings. If this happens please note your therapist will not approach you. If you are comfortable you may approach your therapist but that is always your right as the as the client to determine. In addition, you and your therapist may share mutual friends or be involved in similar settings. Therapists at Restoration Counseling Center attempt to limit or avoid these situations to protect client confidentiality and privacy. However, it is not completely unavoidable. If a situation like this arises your therapist will discuss it with you and if needed refer for other counseling services.

How is confidentiality different in marriage and family counseling.

Information in couples counseling is kept confidential, and it requires both parties consent in order to release information.

When seeing a minor child, we require informed consent from both parents, even in the case of divorced parents, unless one parent has sole parental authority in which case documentation is requested. In the cases of divorce, parents must provide a parenting plan which shows their ability to make medical decisions for their minor child.

What forms of payment do you take?
